WAHM Resources: 3 iPhone Apps to Help You Succeed in Life and Business

Friday, September 11th, 2015

Cell Phone Small I have an iPhone 6 and I’ll tell you between my family and my business, I’d be so unorganized without it. I’d probably forget 90% of what I need to do if it weren’t for my phone. I have found I’m more organized and I complete my tasks when I use my phone rather than a paper calendar. I’m not sure if that’s because I always have my phone with me or if it’s because of the reminder that pops up.

I have also found there are apps I can use on my phone that give me the ability to work even when I don’t have my computer with me. This has been helpful when I’m sitting in the waiting room at the doctor’s office or when I’m in the car while on vacation.

Here are a few of the apps I use almost every day for either personal tasks or business tasks.

1. Google Calendar

The iPhone comes with a calendar, but I have found the actual Google Calendar app is much easier to use and the reminder sound is better. The app gives you the ability to set a number of reminders that pop up on your phone and it also gives you the ability to have a reminder emailed to you.

Tips for Coming Up With Work at Home Ideas

Saturday, April 20th, 2013

Work at home ideas are generously scattered throughout the world wide web, however, the main thing you need to do before you start looking is decide what you want to do. You have work at home jobs, (telecommuting), or a business of your own, so you need to do some thinking first.

For work at home jobs, you will work for someone else that pays you a set salary for the work that you do. For most telecommuting, you will of course need certain skill sets, as well as a well written, professional resume and cover letter.

However, for some jobs…there are waiting lists and it may take awhile to land the job you want. There are many home based job categories you can check into. The keys for finding a job online are patience, experience, basic search skills, and the willingness to put forth the effort and put in a hard day’s work for your pay. Search on job boards such as; careerbuilder, genuine jobs, and dice.com.

If you decide you want to run a business you need to decide what type of business you want to get into. You have direct sales or one of your own to consider. Direct sales businesses are ones that are owned by a company that you would be a representative for. If you choose to create a business of your own you could do coaching, you could be a virtual assistant, web designer, or perhaps, sell on eBay and Craigslist.

WAHM Resource – Grammar Goofs

Sunday, January 20th, 2013

Grammar goofs can be the failure behind article marketing. There are a number of words that cause me people headaches while others miss them all together. There is a difference in meaning between your and you’re as well as it’s and its. If used incorrectly some words can totally change the meaning of the sentence or they can make you look like a fool. It’s not worth it when it would take a little reading and studying to know what the correct word is.

Below is a great WAHM Resource I found to help you to know what the correct word is you want to use and what the meanings are. This infographic will help you make your articles the best they can be.

Guest Post – 3 Goal Setting Tips That Work

Thursday, January 3rd, 2013

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you had a relaxing break and you did everything or almost everything you set out to do.

A New Year symbolizes new beginnings for many. It’s a time of change, new growth or rekindling. Whatever the situation may be with you, it’s never too late to start setting attainable goals. For many people, setting new goals in the New Year becomes a bit of a challenge. You may be gung-ho for the first three months and then suddenly your motivation drops completely. Here are three tips on how to set goals that work.

When you set goals, you need to write them down. It doesn’t work if you keep it all in your head. You have to see it and visualize it. For some people using an online software such as Evernote for their goal setting works very well, while others prefer a tangible notebook. If you’re going with the latter, I recommend you get a notebook you can personalize and look at as your goal book. You can easily use a steno pad or yellow pad of paper, but when you think about it, how motivating is that to look at?

Secondly, you have to break down your goals and be specific. It’s easy to say you want to lose weight. That’s very general so what you want to do instead is write down, for example, how many pounds you want to lose, your goal date, or how many inches you want to lose off your waist, hips, etc. Next, to lose those inches or pounds, what will you have to do? You might decide you want to eat 150 fewer calories daily and incorporate 45 minutes of brisk walking per day. Once you’re able to accomplish it easily, revisit your goal setting notebook and tweak it. Set a new goal of eating 250 fewer calories or add another exercise regimen. If you fail to do it, don’t scrap your goal completely. Go back to your starting point of 150 fewer calories.

Thirdly, you have to rid yourself of the temptations. In the above scenario, you can donate your junk food to the food bank or give them to your friends or other family members who don’t live with you. Once you throw out the “old” you can bring in the new, but that’s only the physical part of it. You have to also change the way you think. In order to start receiving good, you have to purge your mind of the negative. It’s not easy if you’re not normally a positive thinking person; it won’t happen overnight, but if you’re aware of it, it’s easier to catch it and change it.

When it comes to goal setting, you’ll experience failure before you find success, but don’t give up and don’t let it frustrate or discourage you. Keep your focus and the goal you want to reach and don’t forget to celebrate your small successes along the way.

What tips do you have for goal setting? Please share your success stories in the comments below.

Tell me Thursday – August 30

Thursday, August 30th, 2012

The Wordless Wednesday post I shared yesterday was for the WAHM-Articles directory. This site is a great way to have your articles visible to work at home moms and others. If you missed the picture, click here to view it.

Marketing your business is very important and if you don’t do it regularly your business will not grow and that defeats the purpose of it. You must do multiple things so you reach a larger part of your market and you must do each thing regularly so you’re visible when they’re looking.

While social media posts, blog comments, and blogging are an important part of marketing your business, article marketing is one of the best forms you can use. Article marketing gives you the ability to show your market you’re an expert in your field and they can trust you.

WAHM-Articles is a directory specifically geared to women. They only accept articles written by women and the market is also women. You’ll find a few articles written by men, but that was during a time when they considered allowing everyone to submit articles. That changed when they decided WAHM-Articles needed to be a place where women could submit their writing and not have to worry about what men thought.

If you’re a women and you either write articles or are looking for new content for your website or blog, make sure you click here to visit the directory and to see what it’s all about. Remember you can submit your articles as long as you’re a woman and your articles are geared toward women.

Guest Post – Effective Ways to Train New Consultants

Tuesday, August 28th, 2012

One of the most important parts of growing your home party business is an effective home party plan training program. Your field reps are one of the most important assets you have, and it is a good idea to have a comprehensive training program in place to help them learn the business and work closely with party hostesses.

When you put together a good training program, it can eliminate a lot of the costly mistakes that an inexperienced field rep may make. Remember that growing your party business is important, but growing it in a way that is smart and effective is a top priority.

Direct Sales Introduction Material

Every new direct sales consultant should get a package of introduction material to review when they join. When you start out with new field reps, it may be difficult to schedule training sessions exactly when you want them. That is why you want to give your new consultants upfront information that will help them to get familiar with the product and the process.

All of your home party plan training materials should have your contact information on them including a phone number and email address. You will want to create as many open avenues of communication as possible to make sure your reps get the information they need in a timely manner.

Internet Training

Training on the internet is becoming more popular.

There are two ways in which you can use the Internet to train your new field reps. First is to create a secured message board that only your consultants can log into where they can get important information and leave questions for you to answer. The reason that a message board works so well is because you can answer a question from one of your reps but all of your reps will benefit from the answer you give. You can sign up for a free message board and never have to pay to have this valuable resource.

Another way that the Internet can help you in training new consultants is through video conferencing. You can schedule training classes that can be done over the Internet using video cameras and free video conferencing software. This will help reduce the scheduling problems you may have with your new field reps.

Consultant Training Before Party Experience

Do not bring your new field reps into a party situation until they have undergone the basic training first. The reason for this is because basic training will explain all of the essential information your reps will need before they see their first party.

If your consultants do not understand the basics, then trying to understand a party in action will be pointless.

Before you allow your field reps to become actively involved in the business, you should give them at least two weeks of field training. Let them watch how you host a party and then allow them to host their first party with you in attendance.

For your business to succeed, all of your direct sales consultants need to be trained properly. By using the right resources and developing a proper schedule, you can get your field reps ready to go in a relatively short period of time.

Your team training techniques will determine the success of your business as well as the new direct sales consultant’s business . Deb Bixler provides direct sales training for consultants on how to increase cash flow at home by putting systems into place that create a consistent cash flow.
