Two Tips Tuesday – Reaching your New Year’s Goals

Tuesday, January 5th, 2016

2016 Goals ImageToday is January 5th and we’re well on our way into this wonderful new year. Mine will be filled with happiness and great times with my family. My oldest son will graduate from college in May and my youngest will turn 18 in September. There are so many things I’m grateful for and I’m looking forward to all of them in 2016.

I have set quite a few goals and I’m steadily working on each of them so they will be complete by the deadline I set. While goals are sometimes hard to complete, I’m going to do what it takes to complete each and every one of them this year.

In years past I’ve struggled a bit with my goals and most times I’ve completed a few, but not all of them. I’ve decided to learn from my mistakes and work toward completed all of them this year. Here are the two things I’ve decided to incorporate this year to help me reach success.

1. Write them Down

I have way too many things going through my head to remember each goal I want to complete. Not only that, but there are too many things that go with each goal to try and remember what each step is and where I’m at with each goal.

By writing them down I’ll know what I have to do to reach success with each goal and where I’m at in the process. I’ll be able to make notes and jot down things that come to mind as I go along. Once a goal is complete I’ll have the ability to mark it as complete and that will feel great! This will also help me to move on to the next goal.

2. Pray

I learned in church a few weeks ago that it doesn’t matter how small or large something is, God wants you to be successful and he wants you to have the desires of your heart. This means whatever I want, as long as I pray and ask for it, God will give it to me. If I don’t ask I won’t receive so I’ll be praying every day.

Praying each day over my business, my family, and my life will help me to achieve what I want each day. This is not something you can do when you want and when you feel the need. You need to pray every day. When God hears your desires he’ll give you what you want. He wants you to be happy, successful, and filled to the fullest with your desires.

I know if I follow these tips I’ll have a successful 2016 and it will be a year filled with accomplishments and happy times! Here’s to a wonderful and successful 2016!

Two Tips Tuesday: Writing a To-do List

Tuesday, September 8th, 2015

To-Do List ImageA to-do list will help you stay on track and know what you want to accomplish in a day. If you’re anything like me, you have a ton of things running through your head. I have family things, schedules, classes, business, and personal things and it seems as if I don’t write things down I won’t remember what needs to be done.

While a to-do list will help you get things done each day, you won’t reach success if you don’t use them properly. Here are two tips to help you write a to-do list that will be achievable.

1. Be Detailed

When you write detailed items on your to-do list you’ll know exactly what is needed to accomplish the item you desire. If you write general items you may not know what’s needed to accomplish it or you may find there is a lot involved and you may not be able to get everything accomplished due to the time it takes to complete each item.

2. Be Length Conscious

If your to-do list is too long you may find you’re overwhelmed and have no desire to work your list. It’s not a good idea to make a to-do list that’s for an entire week for this very reason. A long list is too much to look at. If you need to do a week long list, you should create a daily to-do list as well. That way you won’t be overwhelmed.

When you use these tips when writing out a to-do list you’ll have a better chance of reaching success at the end of the day. You’ll find your lists will contain items you want to achieve each day and you won’t feel overwhelmed and quite.

Two Tips Tuesday: School Tips

Tuesday, August 18th, 2015

2 tips TuesdayMy youngest son will be a junior this year, but he’s decided to take college classes as well. His dream is to be a fire fighter and an EMT. He wants to work at a fire station and the hospital. While those are both achievable in two years each, his goal is to have them both in 3 years.

Our school district has a program called BOCES and this gives the high school kids the ability to take college classes and receive both high school and college credit for them. While that’s awesome in and of itself, what’s better is the BOCES program pays for these classes.

My son signed up for two classes this semester and the total cost for tuition, fees, and books was $984. Yikes and that’s for two classes. So needless to say I’m praising God that BOCES is paying for it.

Here are two tips I’ll be following with my son for the next two years as he combines high school and college to reach his goals.

1. Keep tabs on the grades

While your children may think they can do it all themselves, they may find it’s not as easy as they expected. Our school district has high school grades online for parents and children to access, so I’ll be checking those regularly.

2. Encourage your child to ask for help

While my son has a learning disability and was on an IEP for 14 years, it’s not stopping him from striving to reach his goals. I will continue to encourage him to ask for help, whether it’s from a teacher, a mentor program, or me. I’d rather have him take time to do this then to fail.

What do you do to help your children with school? Please share your thoughts and tips below.

2 Tips for Completing your To-do List

Tuesday, June 12th, 2012

Creating a to-do list is a great way to make sure you complete all the tasks you’d like to complete in any given time. You can create these for personal use as well as business use. There are so many things you can create a to-do list for that the list is endless, but the important thing is to know what needs to be done to complete the list and meet your deadlines and goals.

While there are many ways to complete your to-do list I have found some of them don’t work for me. Here are the two that have helped me the most and the ones I use every day so I make sure I complete my to-do list and stay on track.

1. Length

I’ve tried creating to-do lists for the entire month and for the entire week and all that does if frustrate me. I don’t feel like I’m getting anywhere because the list is so long. The reason it’s so long is because I have daily and weekly things I do for myself and for my clients and so those things must be on the list multiple times.

It’s not good to have a to-do list that’s 2 full notebook paper sheets long. That length can get to anyone and I know it certainly got to me so I had to make a change. Now I create a daily to-do list. That way my list is shorter and I don’t miss anything because it was put further down on the long list and was surrounded by tasks that weren’t due for a week or more.

2. Hard Tasks First

I found I was having a problem with my to-do lists and with that came the time when it wasn’t being completed. My problem had to do with tasks I didn’t like to do or ones that were hard. I found I would do all the easy and fun ones first and that left me to complete those ones that I didn’t want to do, but needed to be done. When I discovered this was going on I decided to try changing things so I could prevent that from happening.

2 Valuable Tips to Help you Reach Blog Post Success

Tuesday, May 15th, 2012

Even though the content in your blog posts is one of the most important things, there are two other things that must be used properly or your blog post won’t be read by the masses. You can have the best content possible, but if you don’t have a good title and you don’t use the keywords properly you might as well forget it.

1. Title

Your title is the first thing your readers see, so it’s important to use one that’s catchy, but fits the post as well. It’s not good to try to get people to read your post by using a title that in no way fits what you’re covering in the post. If you do that people will stop reading what you post and that’s not what you want. When you come up with a title that’s inviting and grabs their attention, you’ll get them every time.

When you’re thinking about the title for your blog post, come up with something that fits the post and try to use the main keyword in your post. This will help draw them in and make them want to read your post. Don’t make your title too long because that will cause problems with search engine posts and if someone uses your post on their site it may not fit depending on their requirements.

2. Keywords

The keywords you choose are invaluable because they help people find your post. Not only are the needed within your post for searches that may be done on your site, but they’re also used when people use search engines for information they need. You need to choose 5-7 words that best fit the content within your post. When you use the best keywords you’ll have more success with searches and that’s what you want when you’re trying to increase the traffic to your site.

Tips for Using Newsletters to Grow your Business

Monday, April 9th, 2012

When you stay in constant communication with your market you’ll find they will remember you when they need what you offer. If you aren’t there for them, they won’t have the information needed to make it happen.

Your newsletter doesn’t have to be anything big, but rather it can contain a little bit of information. You can include a single article, a tip, or information about a product or service you offer. Basically the important thing is to get something out there for your list to read.

The best thing to do is create a template for each week so you know what you’ll need to use for your newsletter. You’ll find you won’t have stress and creating the content for your newsletter will be easier. You might consider using Google Docs to create a list of topics to cover and to keep track of what you’ve already posted. If you have different categories you’ll use for each newsletter, consider using different documents for each one.

The important thing to remember is your newsletter doesn’t need to be long and full of information. As long as you send it out regularly, you’ll find it becomes easier to do. So get your newsletter ready to go and sent out as soon as possible. You’ll be glad you did.

Two Tips to Increase your Website Traffic with Article Marketing

Tuesday, January 17th, 2012

After you’ve written your articles, you must submit them to article directories, but it’s also a good idea to submit them to other websites as well. This will help you increase the traffic to your site.

The best thing to do to get your articles submitted to other sites is to use one of these two tips.

One way to get your articles published on other websites is to contact the website owner and ask them if they’d be interested in posting your article. Sometimes these people will post them on their blog and give you credit for the post. Another way they may list your article is if they have an article they’ll place it in their. While this is still an article directory, it’s different because they control who posts the articles and they post what they want and who they want.

Another way to have your articles posted on websites is to become a guest blogger. You need to be careful when you do these posts because some owners require original posts only. When you ask to be a guest blogger you need to make sure you choose websites that meet the needs of your target market. There is no point in posting your articles on sites that aren’t geared to your market.

When you use these two tips with your article marketing you’ll be able to increase your traffic even more than you would if you only submitted your articles to article directories. The more traffic you have to your site the better chance you’ll have of growing your business and reaching your goals.

There is one thing couples argue more about than anything and that is one thing is finances. Money is something a lot of couples hate to talk about because it’s hard to handle and deal with. The way things are paid and how much is paid or what to spend your money on is the worst.

These problems can cause more problems than you may think, so it’s best to talk these out and involve each other at all times. There are several things you can do to help each other through the hard times of dealing with your finances.

1. One thing you can do is sit down and make a budget together. Write down all of your bills, how much you owe, how much the monthly payment is, and when it’s due. That way you’ll know how much is going out each month.

2. The other thing you can do is to sit down and pay the bills together each week or month. When you do it together things will be so much more understandable and you’ll know where every dime is going.

When you communicate about your finances and you discuss decisions before they’re made you’ll find the arguments you have will be fewer and farther between which is what you want. 2 Suggestions for Making Daily Blog Posts

Tuesday, November 8th, 2011

Your blog is one of the best ways to increase traffic to your site. When you post tips and suggestions that are geared to what you offer, your readers will come back for more. The ideal way to increase the traffic to your blog is to post daily. That can be a huge challenge when you have a family and run a business. There are several things you can do to make the posts easier for you.

Creating a blog calendar will help with the topics. Creating a calendar with topics for each day of the week will give you ideas for each day. You can use the ideas or you can write on whatever comes to mind. One way to always know what the topic is for a specific day is to come up with something that goes with the day of the week. For example, Wordless Wednesday is a great topic for your Wednesday post.

Now what I’ve done is created two topics for each day. That way I’m not doing the same type of post each day. Of course, it depends on the content for your blog as to what your categories will be. For Wednesday, mine are Wordless Wednesday’s and Writing Wednesday’s.

Another way to make it easier to make daily posts to your blog is to have guest bloggers. When you have a guest blogger post to your blog, they get credit for the post in the form of a bio. You can either tell your guest bloggers what to write about or you can give them generic topics and they can go from there on the content.
