Thankful Thursday – Thankful for Technology

Thursday, August 27th, 2015

Thankful Thursday ButtonToday I’m writing about technology and how thankful I am to have it. My oldest son is in his last year of college and he’s in a city 2 hours away from us and my youngest son is a junior in high school and is taking college classes. I’m thankful for technology because it gives me the ability to talk to them and see what they have going on.

Having a computer and a smart phone will give us the ability to Skype and Facetime with our oldest and I’m so thankful for that. Talking over the phone helps when you can’t see them daily, but Skype and Facetime will give us the ability to see his face and give us a sense of being with him. I know it’s not the same as seeing him in person, but it beats not being able to see him at all.

I’m also thankful for a smart phone with my youngest son because it gives me the ability to have him call when he’s on his way home from class or if he needs help. It gives me a sense of peace because I know I can talk to him when I need to.

I’m thankful for technology, but I can’t imagine what parents did when they didn’t have it. LOL How did parents handle it back in the olden days when they didn’t have cell phones or land line phones? How could they handle not speaking to their children on a daily basis? I’m sure glad I don’t have to do that. Hahaha

Thankful Thursday – Josh and his Grandma

Thursday, January 24th, 2013

Today is Thankful Thursday and this is one of the hardest topics for me to write about. I’m thankful for so many different things that it’s hard to decide what to share with you. LOL

Today I’m going to share my son Josh with you. Josh is a caring and compassionate young man. The reason I’m sharing him with you is because we recently had to place my grandma in a nursing home. This has been very hard on Josh because he’s helped my mom, my aunt, my sister, and I care for her for the last several years. They have become really close and he loves to help her with anything she may need.

Grandma has Alzeheimer’s and it’s slowly getting worse. Even though she doesn’t remember Josh at times, she still knows he’s there for her and she knows he cares very much for her. Putting grandma into a nursing home was a VERY hard decision for my mom to make and while it was one that wasn’t taken lightly, it was something that had to be done. Since this is so hard on Josh we make sure he gets out there regularly to see her.

He continually asks how she’s doing and if she’s getting the care she needs. I remember shortly after she was taken to the nursing home Josh was trying to deal with it, but he had one thought that continually would come to his mind. Would she be ok and was she ok if she fell? You see she’s a fall risk, so that was a concern to Josh. He was worried that the people at the nursing home wouldn’t be there if she fell. He was also worried if she did fall would she be too far away from the hospital.

I’m so thankful for Josh’s heart and the feelings he has for his grandma. It melts my heart to see them together and I love how he cares so much for her. He’s turning into a caring young man and I’ll tell you when he’s an adult he’s going to break some hearts for sure. Love you Josh!!

Thankful Thursday – The Unpredictable

Thursday, September 6th, 2012

Some things in life are predictable, like the time you get up in the morning or the time you have lunch. It’s the things that are unpredictable that cause us to be thankful at times and that’s exactly what happened to my family last week.

My father-in-law and his girlfriend were headed to the lake for a long holiday weekend when the camp trailer they were hauling began to fish tail. The story itself could take a lot of words to cover, so I’ll take you the short of it all. When it was all said and done, the camp trailer came to rest in the ditch and the truck they were driving came to rest facing the wrong direction on the other side of the road.

The trailer was destroyed, but the thankful part is they were ok. Neither of them were injured and the truck they were driving didn’t roll with the trailer. The only thing that saved them from rolling was that the trailer came disconnected from the truck. They were both pretty shook up about the situation, but who wouldn’t be?

The image in this post is what’s left of their camp trailer after the accident. I’m thankful and I praise God they had angels around them to protect them and keep them safe.

Thankful Thursday – I’m Thankful for what I have Today

Thursday, May 31st, 2012

I’m so thankful for what I have in my life today. I have the greatest husband, two awesome boys, a wonderful sister, the best parents, niece, nephew, in-laws, and so many others. Without those people I wouldn’t have what I have and I wouldn’t be where I am today. They’re my life and I’m so glad they’re a part of it!

I’m also thankful for my business. My business has helped our family pay bills, go on trips, and purchase things we wouldn’t have otherwise been able to afford. It’s sent one of our boys to a football camp and it’s bought the other one expensive basketball shoes. It’s been wonderful and needless to say I’m glad I took the leap back in 2006 and started my Virtual Assistant business. I’m also glad I decided to become a ghostwriter in 2009 because that’s been a big part of my business.

Have you ever thought about what you have and why you have it? When you realize what you have and what it’s given you, you’ll be as thankful as I am for the reasons behind those things. What are you thankful for? Share it with us in the comments section.

Weight Loss isn’t Easy!

Thursday, April 12th, 2012

Today is Thankful Thursday and I’m so thankful for my husband, Kevin. If it weren’t for him I wouldn’t be down 3 1/2 pounds today. Early in the week I was ready to quite, but he was there to help me. He’s encouraged me, reminded me of the reasons I want to lose weight, and he’s celebrated with me when I had good days. He’s the best and I love him for that.

Losing weight isn’t easy by any means, but it’s just a little bit easier when you have someone going through it with you and encouraging you to continue working at it. It makes it easier when you have someone to stand by your side and tell you you’re doing great and it’s going to pay off. It’s nice to know you have that.

I’m always thankful for Kevin because he always supports me no matter what it is I’m doing. He’s there to hug me when things don’t go my way and he’s there when I get bad news and begin to worry. That’s what I love about him. He’s always caring, understanding, and supportive. Who could ask for anything better? I know I certainly can’t, because he’s the best.

Kevey, I love you with all my heart and I’m so thankful for you today. I’m the luckiest girl in the world and I’m so glad God told me to go with you. I’m so thankful I listened because I know my life wouldn’t be as good as it is right now. You’re the best and I love you with all my heart!

Today I’m thankful for Chris!

Thursday, March 29th, 2012

Today is Thursday and that means it’s Thankful Thursday. Today I want to thank my oldest son Chris. Last month on February 28th he turned 16 and got his driver license and I’ll tell you what, it’s been a blessing. He runs errands for me and he takes his little brother to school and picks him up.

He does everything I ask and doesn’t question a thing and he doesn’t expect anything in return. It was hard for me to allow him to do this at first, but after a few times of him coming back home safe and with what I asked it got to a point where I knew he was going to be safe.

If you have a 16 year old driver in your family, you know what I’m talking about, but if you don’t, this is what you have to look forward to. He has his own car that he bought with his own money. He pays for his insurance and he pays for his gas. He’s responsible with the money he gets from his job and it’s a wonderful thing knowing he’s going to be just fine because he’s responsible already.

So today Chris, I want you to know that I’m truly thankful for all you do for me and I’m so proud of you for everything you have accomplished and what you will accomplish in the future. I love you!!

Thankful for my Awesome Clients

Thursday, February 16th, 2012

Today I’m thankful for my clients. If it weren’t for them I certainly would not be where I am today. I wouldn’t have the things I have and I wouldn’t be able to afford to do the things my family and I get today.

I have learned a lot along the way and it’s been so much fun. I can truly say I love what I do and it’s because of my clients that I have that ability. Can you honestly say you love what you do and you wouldn’t trade anything in the world? I sure can and I’m so thankful that I have that ability.

I’m very thankful for those clients that allowed me the ability to learn along the way and for those that didn’t have a problem teaching me what they needed me to do. Those are the best because they get the help they need and I get the training and the knowledge needed to not only do a good job, but I also have the ability to take that knowledge and help others as well.

I hope you’re as lucky as I am when it comes to your customers or clients and what they do for you. When they help you grow, you’ve won!

I’m Thankful for my Family Today

Thursday, February 2nd, 2012

I’ll tell you, there are certain times when you’re more thankful than others and I had one of those experiences last week. I was so thankful for my husband and boys last week. It was nice to know I didn’t have to worry about a thing because they had it under control.

You see, I ended up with a really bad cold and I’m pretty sure I had a sinus infection to go with it. I was down on and off for five days. I had at least two days where I didn’t do anything simply because I couldn’t make myself do anything. I hurt so bad and I was so cold that I just couldn’t function.

My husband and boys were there to take care of dinner and the house and never questioned a thing. They made sure I had my medicine and anything I needed. It was the sweetest and most wonderful thing in the world and I’m so thankful they did it for me. I felt like a princess even though I was sick.

So today I want to say thank you to Kevin, Chris, and Josh. You guys are the best and I love you with all my heart.

Thankful For a Family That Helps!

Thursday, December 15th, 2011

This week has been quite eventful in my family. Not only is it getting close to Christmas, which in itself is stressful, but a few days ago, my grandpa had to be admitted to the hospital. While we never want our family members to be in the hospital, having my grandpa in there is very difficult. You see, my grandma has Alzheimer’s and can not be left alone.  Fortunately, our family has once again stepped in and done whatever was needed to make sure everyone and everything was taken care of.

It’s not often that an entire family can come together and help out whenever they are needed. Much of the time, you have most family members who live out of town, which is the case in my sisters husbands family. They are the only ones in town that can take care of his grandma. On my side of the family, that is definitely not the case. My aunt is spending the night with my grandma. My dad and sister are over in the mornings at different times, and my other aunt stays with her during the day. The rest of us, including my mom, dad, uncle, and cousins alternate times to be with her in the evenings until my aunt can get back over and stay another night. They are also making sure that they go see my grandpa in the hospital. It’s times like these that you can’t help but take a step back and look at the things going on around you and say “WOW…I have an amazing family, and I am so Thankful for them!”

To all of my family who is helping out and to those of you who are out of town, but would help if they could…Thank You! I am proud to be in such a loving and caring family!
