Denise Willms PictureAs many of you know, Denise passed away in the early morning hours of June 27, 2010. She was on vacation celebrating her birthday with her family when she became ill.

Denise’s mom Ruth published her eulogy on her site. Please click on the link below to read about this wonderful woman.

Denise was a beautiful and caring woman. She was always full of life and every time you saw her or read a post she made, you could tell she had a smile on her face. She loved to help others and that showed through the volunteering she did on many sites and organizations.

A memorial page was created in Denise’s memory. Please feel free to sign the guestbook and share a story or two about your memories of Denise. The link to her page is below.

WAHM Survey – Win Ad Space

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

The work at home moms blues. Do you ever get those?

I do. More often than I’d like, in fact. Which in a way, surprises me.  I’ve never had so much control of my life as I do as a home business owner. If something gets me down, I can put a stop to it!

But, in another way, I’m not so surprised after all… I’ll be blogging about that more this week.

I would love to get some input from other moms on this topic too. Do you ever get the work at home mom blues? Whether you do or not, I would really appreciate it if you could participate in my brief survey here.

To thank you for your time, everyone who participates is entered to win a free one-month 125×125 button ad space on WAHM-Articles.com. (You need to supply the button ad.) I’ll be drawing the winner March 22, around noon MT.

I really look forward to hearing what you have to say! Who knows, maybe I really am the only one who sometimes feels down about working at home. And then again, maybe we have a lot of encouragement to offer each other!

Here’s the link to the survey again.

Applause Award Winner: Michelle Shaeffer

Monday, March 1st, 2010

The votes are counted, and it’s time for me to announce the recipient of this month’s WAHM-Articles Applause Award.

The Applause Award was created in 2009 to recognize the significant contributions our wonderful authors make to the members of the online work-at-home-mom (WAHM) community.

As business owners, we’re told to write articles because it’s a smart marketing move. But there’s something about a WAHM article – an article written by a mom specifically for other moms – that affects much more than website traffic or your sales.

When we share our personal stories and our experiences in the articles we write, we create a connection with other moms that runs much deeper than our pocketbooks. Sometimes we discover kindred spirits in the articles we read. Sometimes we just experience a small feeling of, “Whew, I’m not the only one.” The relief that comes when we discover that someone else, somewhere, understands exactly what we’re going through. In either case, they can make a profound impact on our “WAHM lives.”

This month’s Applause Award winner is Michelle Shaeffer of MichelleShaeffer.com.

Michelle has been a contributor to our writing community since almost the very beginning.  She writes WAHM articles on business topics and living a fulfilling WAHM life. I particularly enjoy Michelle’s internet marketing articles – she’s a savvy marketer with a lot of style.

Michelle is a work at home mom to three beautiful little “blessings,” a cat, tortoise, tank full of fish, and wife to Arlyn. They are a homeschooling, natural living family.

Michelle has been designing websites for about 15 years (8 years professionally) and offering website hosting for almost 4 years.  If you’re looking for a reliable host for your website, I definitely recommend Michelle. She has been doing a fantastic job of hosting WAHM-Articles for the past several months. In 2007 she began producing info products for WAHMs – which I also highly recommend!

Thank you Michelle for being part of WAHM-Articles and for inspiring our readers!

Promote Your WAHM Business in Our Holiday Contest

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

The holidays are almost here! Whether you’re looking forward to Thanksgiving, Christmas, any holiday that falls in between – or perhaps all of them! – it’s hard not to feel a sense of anticipation as we enter this season. My family celebrated Thanksgiving last weekend, and the dollar store where I go to pick up little odds and ends is already bursting with decorations for Christmas.

Have you been getting the same emails I have, reminding you that now’s the time to start your holiday promotions? In fact, some of the holiday gift guides and marketing opportunities have already closed.

Like me, you may have been too busy enjoying the late summer weather and getting your kids settled in school to take advantage of them.

But Corrie and I have an invitation for you to get some more exposure for your products and services this holiday season.

In just a few days, we’re launching our second annual WAHM-Articles Holiday Article Writing Challenge, and we’re looking for prizes that will help make this season a little more relaxing for other work-at-home-moms.

Business owners who would like to get involved by donating a prize will receive:

– 30 days advertising on on the rotating banner on the WAHM-Articles community site.
– a link from the WAHM-Articles blog
– your business will be mentioned in an upcoming WAHM-Articles press release

The contest will be promoted on Twitter and Facebook, as well as in an upcoming e-blast to a subscriber list of over 7000 work at home moms.

If you have a great prize to share with our members, we would love for you to be involved!

Here is what you do if you would like to have your WAHM business included:

– Send the name of your prize, along with a description and picture, and a link to your website to Corrie [email protected]  You can also include an explanation of how your prize would be helpful to a busy WAHM at holiday time.

Now that snow’s on the ground (at least here in Calgary) and the kids are back into their routines, there’s no reason for you to miss on this! We’re launching the writing contest on October 20, so contact Corrie right away with your prize donation.

Then stay tuned to find out how you can win one of these great prizes for yourself. :-)
