6 Topics You Shouldn’t Discuss Online

Wednesday, October 10th, 2012

The internet is a great thing when it comes to reaching out to people outside of your community, but it’s also important to remember what you say will reach the masses quickly and easily. It doesn’t matter how many people see what you say, word of mouth will carry it even further.

When you use Facebook or Twitter to promote your business, people see what you say. When you have customers or potential customers that follow you, they watch and read what you post and that can be a good thing or it can be detrimental to your business. Here are a few things to think about when you’re posting on the web.

1. Remember who follows you and don’t say anything you may regret later.

2. Think about the topics you discuss online because you may offend someone if you say the wrong thing.

3. Don’t talk politics unless your business is political.

4. Don’t tell your life history.

5. Don’t talk about your medical history online.

6. Don’t talk about your health.

It’s crucial when you market a business online to be careful what you say. Offending a customer may mean the end of your relationship with them and that could ruin your business. While we all know we have the freedom to speak about anything we want, if you choose to talk about the wrong thing it could hurt someone’s feelings or it could make them angry enough to stop working with you.

4 Suggestions for Reaching Success with Weight Loss

Monday, September 17th, 2012

Losing weight is not an easy thing to do for anyone. The lifestyle change you must make is one that you’ll find will be a problem no matter what you do. The adjustments you must make will prove to be the hardest you’ll have to go through, but if you stand strong and do what you need to do, you can make it happen.

While eating right is an important lifestyle change you must make when you want to lose weight, it’s not the only one you must make. A major lifestyle change that must be made before you begin to see a weight loss is exercise. While it’s not easy to make these changes, doing nothing will make you fail. Failure isn’t an option in my book, so here are some tips that really helped me to reach success.

1. Finding a friend to workout with will make it easier to get it done. Going by yourself is not easy to do, but when you have someone to encourage you to go, you’ll find it’ll be easier to go each time. Working out with your spouse or family member will also help because you know they’ll tell you the truth and they won’t be afraid to encourage you to workout.

2. Joining a gym is a good way to make it happen. If you’ve tried to work out on your own at home, you know how hard it can be to have the motivation you need to make it happen each day. If you don’t have the motivation, you may not have what it takes to do the workout each day. When you join the gym you’ll pay money each month for it, so you’ll have the motivation you need to do the workouts.

Frugal Living for Business and Personal Needs

Friday, September 7th, 2012

Whether you’re short on funds due to a job loss or you’re a work at home mom that wants to continue that way, frugal living is a way of life that works for a lot of people. It takes time to put everything together, but it works and can save you money that will help pay your bills.

There are so many things you can do to be frugal with both your business and your personal needs. Here are a few suggestions for you to consider when you making your plans to start frugal living or if you’re already living frugal and need more help.

* Business

Living frugally with your business can be a challenge if you don’t know what to do or what to look for. There are a few supply stores that offer rewards programs and those make it better for your shopping needs. Staples is one of those stores and their program will give you money to use on your next purchase when you return used ink cartridges to them and when you purchase certain items in their store. They also send coupons to those that are a part of their program and that will save you money as well.

Another option is to go online and search for online coupons you can use when you purchase things for your business online. This can be used for items needed to run your business or for travel arrangements you need to make. All you have to do is a Google search for online coupons for the store you want to use.

Thankful Thursday – The Unpredictable

Thursday, September 6th, 2012

Some things in life are predictable, like the time you get up in the morning or the time you have lunch. It’s the things that are unpredictable that cause us to be thankful at times and that’s exactly what happened to my family last week.

My father-in-law and his girlfriend were headed to the lake for a long holiday weekend when the camp trailer they were hauling began to fish tail. The story itself could take a lot of words to cover, so I’ll take you the short of it all. When it was all said and done, the camp trailer came to rest in the ditch and the truck they were driving came to rest facing the wrong direction on the other side of the road.

The trailer was destroyed, but the thankful part is they were ok. Neither of them were injured and the truck they were driving didn’t roll with the trailer. The only thing that saved them from rolling was that the trailer came disconnected from the truck. They were both pretty shook up about the situation, but who wouldn’t be?

The image in this post is what’s left of their camp trailer after the accident. I’m thankful and I praise God they had angels around them to protect them and keep them safe.

Lunch for One? Problem Solved!!

Sunday, August 12th, 2012

How many times have you gone to the kitchen to prepare lunch only to go back to working your business or doing your household chores because you didn’t know what to have? I have been in that situation before and I hate it because I usually end up with a headache or eating something that’s not good for me because I’m starving.

My son was clipping coupons for me a few weeks ago and ran across several recipes that he clipped and gave it to me. I put them in the cupboard not even giving it another thought.

Last weekend we got our Bountiful Basket delivery and inside it was some broccoli and cauliflower along with many other wonderful fruits and vegetables. We don’t eat a lot of the items we receive quickly enough and they go bad, so I’ve been learning how to freeze fruits and vegetables so we can eat them when we’re ready.

Anyway, we purchased a two pack of individual containers of Minute Rice at the store. I saw that in the cupboard today and that reminded me about one of the recipes my son had clipped for me. I grabbed the recipe and quickly realized we had everything to make it and it would take 5 minutes to prepare and cook it. Yay!!!!

I enjoyed the meal so much that I thought I’d share it with all of you today.

Saving Money at the End of the Season

Friday, August 10th, 2012

The end of the summer is approaching and that means all the left over summer clothes will go on clearance. When that happens, it’s the perfect time to make purchases for next summer. Children grow so fast and there is no point in spending a large amount of money on clothes that they’ll only wear for a few short months and then outgrow.

You’ll need to be careful about the sizes you buy because it would be a waste of money to buy ones that won’t fit. That’s hard to do because you just never know how much they’ll grow from year to year, but a good rule of thumb is one to two sizes larger than what they are currently wearing; course if your children grow faster than that, you’ll need to purchase larger sizes than that.

The other thing you need to remember is there is no point in spending this money if you’re going to forget where you store them or if you forget you have them. It’s best to store them in a place where you’ll remember and then add a reminder to your calendar or cell phone. You’ll want to put this reminder in around April or May so you have time to get them out and give them to your child to wear when the warmer weather hits.

Living frugally is important for many reasons. It doesn’t matter if you must save money so you can continue to be a work at home mom or if you’re saving money so you can take a vacation, living frugally is the way to go. When you buy clothes on clearance you’ll save money and have what you need when you need it.

2 Tips for Growing your Business

Monday, July 16th, 2012

Growing a business on your own may work until you reach a point where you stop growing. The main reason you’ll stop growing is because you need to put more time into it, but if you’re trying to do it all, you don’t have more time. When this happens, you must come up with a solution to this time problem.

One way to do it is to eliminate certain things from either your business or your personal life. If you eliminate things from your personal life, you might include not watching as much television, working while you watch television, or sleeping less. While these may work for you, spending less time doing those things might also take away from spending time with your family and that’s not a good thing at all.

Another way to find more time to work your business is to find a way to have the things done with your business that are important, but not do them yourself. The only way to make this happen is to hire someone to help you. Outsourcing certain tasks with your business is the perfect solution. Click here to read an article I wrote on tasks you can outsource to a Virtual Assistant.

If you find you need more time to work the important tasks that go along with your business, you need to consider outsourcing tasks to a Virtual Assistant or Ghostwriter. When you do this, you’ll find the time you need will be there and you won’t be forced to either eliminate certain things in your business and you won’t lose family time.
