Guest Post – A Healthier Way to Satisfy a Sweet Tooth

As I was doing my evening workout today, I got a sudden craving for something sweet! I really hate it when that happens. I was trying, desperately, to think of something that would not defeat the purpose of the workout I was doing. Just as I was about to give in and have some Valentines Day candy, it hit me…Have a fruit and yogurt parfait!

Here is how I made it!

I grabbed one of our tall drinking glasses and put a small amount of Raisin Bran Crunch cereal at the bottom. I didn’t have any regular granola, so I used what I had on hand! Next, I added some vanilla yogurt and added some blueberries on top of that. I repeated the layering until I had filled my glass, alternating between blueberries and raspberries. On the top, I added a small amount of whipped cream and topped it with a strawberry! YUMMY! It cured my sweet tooth and it was better for me than the candy!

You can use other fruits such as chopped peaches, pears or kiwi. Also, you can use flavored yogurts. These are a great treat for your kids too and they will have a lot of fun making them for themselves! So next time you get a sweets craving, go for the fruits, yogurt and cereal and make a healthy parfait!
