Guest Post – Tech Reading
We live in a world full of technology. Our children have cell phones that they can check their Facebook page on and I-Pods they can text from. Text books in school have almost been completely replaced with laptops that are provided by the school districts. That being said, it is not really much of a surprise to me to hear kids say that they don’t want to read a book.
So what do you think the solution is when your children don’t want to read? My suggestion is the Amazon Kindle. Since children are at a point where they use computers for almost everything, this technology won’t be a problem for them. The cool thing about the Kindle is it holds approximately 1500 books. Ordering books for the Kindle is fast and easy. With a click of your mouse you can start reading your favorite books in a under minute. There are thousands of books to choose from and some are even free.
For several years, I took my kids to the library every week. Now, I personally have nothing against going to the library. In fact, my husband and I both love getting books from the library. I made the decision a couple of months ago to buy a Kindle because I brought a book with me to work to read at lunch. It was very bulky and inconvenient to carry around. The Kindle fits in my purse. My daughter has recently decided that libraries are not the cool place to be and when she saw my Kindle, she immediately wanted to read from it. I figure, if it will get her into reading, it is well worth the money.
