Getting Back In The Groove
It’s less than a week since I’ve been back from visiting California. As I wrote in my last article about going on vacation with no laptop, I didn’t have to go very far to find a computer with Internet access. There was one right in the lobby of the hotel we stayed in. I’m proud to say I didn’t get the itch of wanting to jump on it and see how my website was doing. As a matter of fact, I only used it twice and both times were to check my personal email. I had enough confidence in my two moderators to oversee the forum and as far as I could see there were no problems whatsoever. Funny thing though, my husband used the computer many more times than me!
We had a wonderful trip visiting Hollywood, the beach and of course, Disneyland.
I was anxious to know how everything went with my website…how was my traffic, did I make any sales or did my website come to a stall? After 12 days of no promotion and no presence on the Internet I was expecting mediocre, but to my surprise it did well. I made sales, traffic was still increasing, forum member base increased…all was good.
I realized I built a solid website from the start. I put in long hours, I was consistent, persistent, patient and I promoted, promoted, promoted almost every single day! I put myself out there and built relationships and made a name for myself as being honest and helpful. This hard work paid off when I needed it the most. My business was able to run on its own steam.
I also realize now I don’t have to sit in front of my computer 8+ hours every day, if I want to I can, but it’s not necessary anymore. I still have to promote and be consistent, but I can do it in the half the time or less.
It’s not a cliche, it’s the truth. If you build a solid foundation for your business from the very start and work hard on it, your efforts will dearly pay off in the long run and the future work ahead is smooth sailing.
It’s good to be back…especially in my own bed!
