How to Write Articles That Inspire

Last week when I posted about writing articles that inspire, I used a phrase coined by WAHM Articles author Arlene Pellicane:

“Think of average as your enemy.”

Here are two tips for overcoming “average” articles and writing articles that inspire instead.

1. Imagine you’re writing your article to someone you like and respect. How you feel about your reader is reflected in the tone of your article.

Have you ever read an article, and wondered what you did to put the author in such a bad mood? (I’ve read several.) Your readers will listen more closely to what you say if they believe you sincerely like them and want to help them.

2. Now imagine the person you’re writing to needs to know what you have to say. (If you’ve done your research, you won’t have to imagine because you know they will be!)

I hate public speaking, but I do it well when faced with a room full of people who need the information I’m giving them. Instead of worrying about what to say next, I’m focused on my audience and what they need to hear next.

I found your fab website and blog via your profile on Twitter (hurray for twitter!) which I have just joined … still trying to make sense of it all.

I’m off to put you in the links on my Student Mum blog (which I’m hoping to develop into a website.) I love discovering such helpful resources and sharing them with other people!

    :o )
