Willms first novel, The Lion Tree, began as a bedtime story she told her grandchildren, and is loosely based her own experiences growing up in the Fraser Valley and visiting Haiti on a missions trip.
The 117-page novel, written for kids aged eight to twelve, teaches fun, modern-day lessons from the biblical stories of Job, Jonah and the Whale, Brave Queen Esther, and many others. It also touches on current events and missions in both Haiti and Afghanistan.
