4 Things to Avoid When Using Article Marketing to Grow Your Business

Marketing ImageArticle marketing is one of the most powerful ways you can market your business. It gives your target market the ability to learn from you and to know you have knowledge in your field. If you don’t teach your market and show them you know what you’re talking about, they will bypass you for someone that does and that’s not what you want.

There are several things you shouldn’t do when it comes to using article marketing to grow your business. Here are a few things you shouldn’t do with your marketing plan.

1. Advertise through your Articles

When writing articles for your business you should not advertise your business. It’s fine to do that in your bio at the end of your article, but you should not advertise your business in the body of your article. Your articles should be full of content that relates to your business or the field your business is in, but not regarding specific services or products.

2. Too Long or too Short

You don’t want your articles to be too long or too short. There is a fine line for both and it will depend on who you talk to as to what the right number of words would be. A good rule of them is 300 to 500 words. You want as much content in your article as possible, but at the same time too much can be overwhelming and could chase your readers away before they start. It’s better to have a part one and a part two then it is to have an article that has 1,000+ words.

3. Title Misuse

While it’s important to use a catchy title if you don’t tell your readers what your article will cover they may overlook it for a different one. They may think it doesn’t pertain to what they want to read. You want your title to stand out above the rest, but it’s important to tell the readers what they can expect from your article.

4. Keyword Misuse

It’s important to use keywords throughout your article, but overloading it will cause people to stop reading it. A good rule of thumb to follow when it comes to keywords is to use it one time in each paragraph. Some say you should use your keyword in the first sentence and the last sentence of your article. While there is no right or wrong answer to the amount of times you use your keyword, it’s important to not overload your article with this one word or phrase.

These are the top four things you want to avoid when you’re writing articles for your business. While you may not fail as a business owner if you do these things, they won’t help you grow either. The important thing to remember is article marketing, used correctly, will grow your business. When you avoid these four issues you’ll have a greater chance of success.
