Connect the Dots Exercise, lose weight. Do you see the connection? Most people don't see the connection. They would rather continue to look for weight loss in a bottle. Are Americans that stupid? Yes. Time and time again it's been proven that diet and exercise is the only thing that will work in the crusade against fat. So why don't we believe it? Denial runs deep in our society. We don't believe what's right in front of our noses - even when it's in neon letters. Denial is Not a River in Egypt You know the saying, "The truth shall set you free?" Well, the saying is true, but first, it will piss you off - big time. Nobody wants to hear the phrase, "exercise, lose weight." They don't wish to acknowledge the truth of this phrase. Deep in our hearts we know that there is no other way to lose weight other than to exercise and eat right. If weight loss could be found in a pill, it would have been discovered long ago. In addition, the person or persons who would have discovered this marvel pill would be billionaires. Yes, diet pills are expensive but can you imagine if they really found a pill that magically made you lose weight without having to exercise or diet? What do you think they would charge for this pill? I imagine these pills would go for at least $50,000. Prioritize The top two reasons people don't exercise are lack of time and lack of motivation. Eating right is only one component to losing weight. In addition, weight loss or being thin is not indicative of health. Your overall health is contingent upon both exercise and eating right. Let's address the first reason, lack of time. Everyone is busy. But you have to put your priorities in order. Yes, I know you have kids. Yes, I know you have a full-time job. Yes, I know you have to take the kids to after-school baseball practice or little league. Yes, I know you have a baby. Yes, I know your husband expects dinner on the table by a certain time. Blah, blah, blah. So what! You have to put yourself first. You are your top priority. Look at it this way. If you don't take care of yourself by eating well and exercising, you can have a stroke or heart attack and then what good would you be in any of the above-mentioned scenarios? Do yourself a favor and put yourself at the top of your list! Motivation Let's address the second excuse. I call these "reasons" excuses because that's what they are. You lack motivation. Make exercise fun by doing the following things: " Buy pretty or cute outfits to work out in - when you look good you feel good. Throw away your ripped up baggy sweats! " Buy a good pair of sneakers - stop wearing those ratty looking beat up, dirty sneakers the dog has chewed to death! If you look sporty, you'll feel sporty. " Listen to your favorite music - while exercising, nothing makes for great motivation like your favorite music to get you pumped up! Hopefully, after reading this article, you'll see the connection between, exercise and weight loss.
