Setting Goals for the New Year

By: Corrie Petersen

The end of the year is almost here. That can be pretty scary if you think about it, but that means you'll have an entire year to reach success through the new goals you set for your business.

If you want to reach success you must set goals. Goals help you to see ahead so you know what you need to do to step out of the box and reach new levels. If you don't set them you'll find your business won't go anywhere and that means you'll continue to make the same amount of money and you won't grow your business.

Setting goals is time consuming, but you'll feel the reward when you have them written down and you know exactly what you need to do to reach them. You may need to set aside an hour or two so you can brainstorm and decide on all of your goals and how you plan to reach them.

The first thing you need to do is decide what the main goal will be for your business. For example, if your ultimate goal is to increase your income by $100 a week, you need to decide how you plan to reach that goal. You may have several different things you need to do to reach that goal.

Create a map that shows what your ultimate goal is and then write down the mini goals you need to do to accomplish that main goal. Once those goals are set it's time to decide what you'll do to reach the mini goals. It's a good idea to take your goal down to the day. When you do this you'll know what you need to do every day to reach the mini goals and the ultimate goal in the end.

When you create your map it's a good idea to include dates for each of the goals because that will help you to have a clear focus on your plan. When you know when you have to accomplish these goals you'll have a better idea of what you need to do daily and weekly to make it happen.

Goals are very important for all businesses to have. You'll grow and reach success when you set goals and then work hard to reach them. You'll know exactly what steps you need to take to make them happen. Remember, once you reach your goals you need to celebrate. When you do this, you'll want to keep going so you can reach more goals and celebrate more as well.
