How to Market your Business on Facebook

By: Angie Wenke

With more and more businesses turning to social media to advertise their business, why haven't joined this great bandwagon? Social Media might seem scary if you are unfamiliar with using Twitter or Facebook in your personal life. But the benefits of using this free media marketing tool will out way any fears you have of trying this great marketing tool.

Today we are going to discuss the benefits of using Facebook to market your online business. In today's society Facebook is not only used by teenagers and college students, but now a day's more and more Mom's and Dad's and businesses are using this great social media tool to stay in touch with everyone. More families and individuals and professionals are using Facebook to stay in touch with family and friends, to research local and online businesses and to stay up to date on local news and media. But did you know Facebook can be a great source to finding new customers, advertising your business or product?

Facebook offers a great way to allow a small business owner a chance to advertise their site for free by setting up a fan page. A fan page is a place designed to showcase your business, and or products and to allow face book users to become a fan of what you are selling or offering. The key to having a fan page is to update your fan page often with fresh and new content. This can be as simple as the latest product you are working on, sales or specials that are coming up, or new services you are offering to your clients. By keeping your content fresh and updated frequently you are keeping your customers eager in learning more about your business and products and services you offer.

Some of the ways you can promote your business on your fan page is by adding facebook events. Facebook events is a free application that allows anyone to promote their events, parties, or new product launches to all of their fans or friends. Add new photos to your fan page is another great way to market your business. By adding some photos of new products, or services your company is offering will allow you to add fresh content to your fan page along with peaking your customers interest. Another great way to peak your customers interest is to add an interesting status update. A status update is like a note you add to your fan page, this can be as simple as "Working on some great new products that will be available on Wednesday. Be sure to visit our store on Wednesday to see all the new products available."

Another free way of advertising your business on Facebook is to add one of their free profile badges to your website or blog. A fan page profile badge will show your customers the number of fans your facebook page has, it can also show a small excerpt of the latest's facebook posts you have published. Adding the free fan page profile badges to your website or blog can help to draw more fans and possibly more customers to your fan page on facebook. Remember the more fans you get, the better the chance these fans will turn into cash paying customers.
