Measles is a viral disease, which is a common sickness with children infections. Measles is spread through the air by infectious droplets and is highly contagious and it takes about 10-12 days from being exposed till you see first symptom, which will usually be a fever. The measles rash doesn't usually appear until approximately 14 days after you are exposed and 2-3 days after the fever begins. Measles can be transmitted from four days before the rash comes out to about four days after the rash appears. Once this rash comes out it is extremely itchy. Once you have taken your child to the doctors to confirm that it is measles. And they have been checked out, here are some tips to help relieve the systems of the skin irritation. If you put 10 drops of lavender essential oil and 10 drops of chamomile oil into a spray bottle and add 100 mls of rosewater. Give it a shake around and then spray all over the skin 2 times a day. You can also make a bath up for them to soak in and have a play to try and get their minds of the itch. Before they get in the bath add 2 drops of lavender and 1 cup of bicarbonate of soda. The other oils that have a soothing effect are eucalyptus and tea tree essential oils.
