Get Creative With Designing Your Marketing Collaterals

By: Janice Jenkins

Setting up any marketing campaign, be it color brochure printing or newsletter printing, is not an easy task indeed. In fact, the challenge is what makes each campaign different and distressing especially if one is not equipped with the skills and expertise.

What designs should I use? What graphic images should I include? What color combinations would drive home my message?

In every color brochure printing or newsletter printing, questions such as these are very common. Even professional color brochure printing companies and newsletter printing designers have had sleepless nights and endless hours poring over the same questions.

And that is just the half of it. Let us not even talk about having a unique and distinct design that is yours and yours alone. It is true. It is tough to come up with a generic design, but to initiate a unique one, well, that is another story.

So in times like these (even the skilled color brochure printing designers and newsletter printing providers have one), the only way to improve and jumpstart your marketing efforts is to take a deep breath, tap your creative side, and go back to the basics of designing your ad.

Think, think, and think again…
It is all in there – on the left side of your brain. Creativity is embedded in there along with your multiple brain cells that make your creative juices flow abundantly. It just needs a little nudge here and there to wake them up.

Each one of us has creative talent that we need to explore from time to time. And this is definitely the time to do it. Tweak your left side of the brain a little and uncover your hidden talent. Exercise your dormant side and who knows, you might just have a light-bulb idea that can be the next Picasso of all marketing campaigns.

Read, read, and read more…
If you have not done it yet, make it a habit to read…a lot. It is not a novel idea. Books do have lots of information and ideas that you can rely on to help you with every question and issue you have. And with the presence of the Internet, there is a vast and wide array of data that you can explore with just a mouse click. Remember that a voracious reader always makes for a great partner.

Look, compare, imitate…
So you are in a rut. And you are definitely not in the mood to come up with your own design. Do not despair. There are online color brochure printings or newsletter printing sites that offer tutorials and free templates, fonts, graphics images, etc. You can tap these sites to help you get a head start on your design project.

Look for designs that would suit your needs. See if you can use the same elements for your business. If it does, then imitate and add your own information to make it personal and customized to your type of business.

Brainstorm…
Two heads are better than one. In fact, more heads are better than two. Brainstorm and sketch your ideas. Different heads would turn out different ideas. It would surely turn out to be a worthwhile exercise to have other people in the project.

The point here is that even when you are in a rut, it does not mean that you cannot jumpstart your marketing efforts and your design project. It may not be easy; but it is definitely not impossible. Sometimes it just needs a little work to make the impossible possible.
