When it comes to marketing your Direct Sales business online, I am seeing way too many consultants using desperation or begging tactics for business. When you beg for business...it comes across as being unprofessional. I am not sure if these consultants realize the damage they are doing to their professional reputation or to their company 'Name Brand' when they beg for new recruits or new customer sales. When you talk to others about your business, it is important to come across as a true professional who believes in the value of your products or the business opportunity that your company markets. When you beg for product sales or new recruits, you devalue your brand and your marketing strategy goes by the wayside. When you are a representative or consultant for a Direct Sales company, you are to maintain a professional appearance at all times when you are marketing your business or representing the company you are affiliated with. Here are some common scenarios I have recently encountered. 1. Jane Doe is desperate to hit her monthly quota of $300 in personal sales so she emails everyone she knows the following: "Hey friends, I am $200 away from my quota, I am willing to take orders from you at my cost. I am begging you to give me an order before Friday so that I can make my sales goal." Why do I feel this is unprofessional? Well, what if Jane Doe's friend was considering joining the company business? Now her friend will have the impression that it's hard to sell XYZ company's products and it will be hard to meet the monthly quota. Jane Doe has inadvertently sent the wrong message out to her friends and potential recruits by wording her "begging" advertisement the way that she did. 2. Jane Doe is desperate to start building her Direct Sales team so she sends out an email to everyone she knows stating the following: "Hey friends, I am desperately trying to build my business and my team. I would love to invite you to join my team and I will let you join my team for free if you sign up before Friday." Why do I feel this is unprofessional? Well, Jane Doe just devalued her company's business opportunity by inviting people to join for free which means they now have no personal or monetary investment to see it succeed. Studies have shown that when new recruits have invested a little amount of money into a home business, they are more apt to work it to get a return on their investment. When it comes to marketing a Direct Sales business online, it is important to always set forth a valuable and professional business impression. If you are sending out emails and posting on work at home forums, it is important to not have your messages come across as begging for business. You want to send the right message to those who are reading your postings. When you draft up advertisements via email or through forum postings, it is very important to watch your wording and the message that you are trying to get across to your readers. You should never beg for personal sales or new recruits in your messages. Offer your products and business opportunity with professionalism and value and watch your sales and team size increase. Keep the begging out if you want to succeed in your Direct Sales business.
