If you are looking for a craft project to do with your scout troop, school class or youth group, I think you will find this project to be a good choice. You will need to purchase a few readily available items at your local craft store. Wooden Snowman Shelf Sitter Supplies Needed: Acrylic Paint: White, Black and Forest Green Paint Brush Clear Acrylic Sealer Glue 2 1/2" Long Wooden Candle Cup 1 to 1 1/4" Diameter Wooden Ball 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" Wide Wooden Heart 2 Red Pom-Poms 6mm in diameter 3" Piece Thick Green Crafting Wire 5" by 1" Piece Plaid Ribbon Newspaper, Water, Paint Dish, Paper Towels Glue Tips: I find that using wood glue to construct the body pieces works best. You can use all-purpose quick-drying craft glue or a glue gun. Step 1: Lay newspaper down across your work surface. Place tap water in a little dish (used to clean paint brush). Paint the wooden ball and candle cup with white acrylic paint and the wooden heart with black acrylic paint. Set items aside to dry. (about 15 minutes). Step 2: Once items are dry, hand paint facial features as show in the photo onto the wooden ball and hand paint two circles on the candle cup to represent buttons. Set aside to dry. Step 3. Flip the candle cup upside down and glue the wooden heart onto the bottom for the feet of the snowman. Next, glue the wooden ball to the top to represent his head. Step 4: Lightly spray shelf sitter with clear acrylic sealer to protect the paint finish, let dry for 30 minutes before proceeding with the next step. Step 5: Cut off a 3" piece of craft wire and bend it into a U-shape. Glue this wire to the head and glue red pom-poms at each end to represent ear muffs. Step 6: Cut off a 5" long piece of plaid crafting ribbon and tie around the neck to represent a scarf.
