A few years ago I decided to make this cute little black crow shelf sitter for my aunt who just loves to decorate her home in crows and sunflowers. The entire project took less than an hour from start to finish. Supplies Needed 4" tall unfinished wooden bowling pin (found in the craft section of your store) 2 1/2" diameter straw hat 1 1/2" diameter artificial silk sunflower all-purpose quick-drying craft glue 1 tooth pick paint brush acrylic paints in black, white and yellow dish of water paper towels newspaper clear acrylic spray sealer Since you will be painting, lay several sheets of newspaper down onto your work surface. The dish of water and paper towels are for cleaning your paint brush in between changing your paint colors. Step 1: Paint your entire wooden bowling pain with black acrylic paint. Let dry for 15 minutes and apply a second coat if needed. Step 2: Using a fine tip paint brush, paint 2 yellow heart shapes near the bottom of the bowling pin to represent feet. Near the top of the pin, paint a yellow triangular shape to represent a mouth. Clean your brush and apply 2 small half-oval shapes using white paint to represent the eyes. Let facial features dry for 15 minutes. Once they are dry, use the end of a tooth pick to dot on 2 black dots to the upper beak/mouth and use the tooth pick to draw a black curvy line through the beak as shown in the photo. Use the other end of the tooth pick to dot on black paint on the lower edge of the oval white eyes to add depth. Step 3: Using your craft glue, glue the straw hat to the top of the head. Cut the small sunflower from it's stem and glue onto the top left side of the hat. Let dry for 15 to 20 minutes and then spray with a coat of clear acrylic sealer.
