Blogging Burnout Tips - Avoid Hitting A Wall

By: S McIntyre

If you're like many bloggers who have more than one blog, blogging burnout can hit you like a ton of bricks. Blogging can be a lot of fun and addictive, but it can also be detrimental to your well-being.

There are some misconceptions about blogging and there's really no right or wrong way to blog. Here are some tips to help you get the most enjoyment out of blogging without going through blogging burnout.

Some people think the more frequently you blog, the more traffic you will get. That's not true at all and as a matter of fact it can overwhelm your readers. They have families, businesses and other priorities. They aren't glued to their computers 24/7.

It's normal when you're just starting your blog to add content to it. Some people blog up to five times per day, everyday and it becomes excessive. If you want to start off with 20 blog posts, spread it out over the weeks. Depending on the niche, you may find the more time in between postings will get you more traffic. You have to test it out for yourself.

Once your blog has been established, posting daily is not necessary at all. Once a week is okay and anything more may be too much for your subscribers to handle. If you're unsure, you can always start a poll and see what your visitors or subscribers prefer.

A good way to prevent blogging burnout is offer guest blogging spots. You can have a different guest each week or once a month. Having guest bloggers can bring new life to a blog because it offers new perspectives and a change of pace. I have found people are more than willing to contribute.

Find scheduled times to brainstorm blog topics or ideas. Choose to focus on a particular topic and come up with as many ideas for that single topic. Schedule another time to write and pre-schedule the posts.

Blogging shouldn't be a chore and it shouldn't stress you out. Overall there is more to blogging than just updating it with fresh content. Take the time to market your blog, visit similar blogs within your niche and post comments and respond to comments left for you.

It's all about balance and writing quality posts. When you take the focus away from quantity and concentrate on the other important blogging tasks your chances of getting blogging burnout is less likely.
