Tonight I was honored to join the 4 Fab Moms over at their website, www.SmartMoms-SmartBusiness.com, to talk about Writing Articles for Traffic.

It’s always nice when people actually want to hear you talk about one of your favorite topics. :)

For a short time, you can listen to my call over at the Smart Moms website. I’m episode 4: http://www.smartmoms-smartbusiness.com/WAHM-professional-series.html

Podcasting is another great way to get more targeted traffic to your site. The Smart Moms are using TalkShoe as their podcast software, and it is really fun and easy to use! The program is free, and they even pay you. I’m thinking up ways I can utilize this program for WAHM-Articles.

Why not turn your articles into podcasts? So many of the articles on WAHM-Articles are a great start to a podcast. Invite callers to ask questions about your article, or just go more indepth with the information you covered in your article. I’m looking forward to “hearing” your WAHM articles!

Work-at Home Moms House Cleaning Tips – Sell Stuff on eBay

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

I’m not a packrat. Sit around my house too long, and I’ll try to give YOU away, is how my hubby and kids see it. :)

I am, however, new to eBay. I had no idea it was so widely used until we started advertising Ruth’s new book, The Lion Tree. “Can I get it on eBay?” was many people’s first question. (“Are you on MySpace?” was a close second.)

But anyways, all this chatter about eBay has got me thinking that I really should check it out. After cleaning out my bookshelves over the weekend, I’m feeling even more inspired. Wouldn’t it be awesome to get these books out of my house and into the hands of someone who really wants them, plus make some money while I’m at it?

I must confess I’m taking inspiration, and a whole lot of information, from two other sources as well. One is a recent post over at 4fabmoms about a challenge they have going with each other to make the most money selling stuff in their house.

The other is an article on WAHM-Articles. It has a lot of info about selling stuff on eBay, so I’m going to try out some of the author’s advice. After I sell my books, maybe I’ll have another nice little business going.

Here’s the article. Just started today, and I’m already done step 3! Might be a while before I’m ready for step 4, though.

11 Free or Cheap ways to Start and Run your Online Business by Natalie Williams

1. Open eBay and PayPal account (free)

2. Start selling things around their house to get their feet wet, build up feedback points and get experience (free, plus it MAKES you money)

3. Go to library and get books on beginning HTML, Web design (for beginners) and Creating graphics for beginners (free)
Search on the Internet for a free HTML editor (web page creator) and free graphics editor.

4. Running out of stuff to sell? Go to your local thrift shops and buy up all BRAND NAME childrens clothing for like .50-1.00 each and sell them in batches. Buy up all video games, DVD’s and even VHS if the VHS’s are priced at LESS than $2.00. List them and charge $4.50 for shipping and handling.

5. Use Stamps.com to print the postage and you can hide the amount of postage on the label so no one complains). This covers any packing material and your time packing and going to post office. I am TIRED of shipping cost complaints. Do these people email amazon.com and compain they were charged $6.95 for something that cost them .50 to ship? Go to garage sales, buy up and resell.
(Cost – Free to open account and FREE postage to begin with plus a free scale)

6. Start making a website. I don’t care if it’s about hot dog farming. Whatever interests you, make it. (Free to create because you are doing it yourself)

7. Join affiliate programs that match and compliment the theme of your website. Insert reviews and links to these websites of the affiliate programs you joined.

8. Buy a domain name and hosting account and upload your website.
(Domain name $8.95 per year at www.godaddy.com and Hosting account $7.95 per month at www.crystaltech.com or you can do both at GoDaddy. On GoDaddy, you would want the Windows/ASP plan, trust me)

Now that you have all this hosting space, you can also use it to keep your images on for your eBay listings too. Don’t nickel and dime yourself to death with their fees!!

9. Create a custom About Me page on your eBay account that introduces you and directs perople to your website (You DO know some HTML now, right?) (Cost – FREE)

10. Search out newsletters that would be good to put an ad in. Cost, about $40 for a SOLO ad which means JUST your ad goes out to 15,000-30,000 people.

11. Write an eBook on some subject. Put affiliate links in it. Give it away on your website.
Create more ebooks. Make a GREAT one and sell it.

An Easy Thank You Gift for Your E-Course Subscribers

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

E-courses are all the rage. And rightfully so… you can educate potential or current clients and give them a sampling of your product and/or expertise by emailing them a lesson every few days or so.

I just finished Web Design Mastery . It was a ten part mini web site design course that provides a basic overview of what it takes to design a professional web site, excerpted from the acclaimed Web Design Mastery course.

At the end of my lessons, the creator sent me a very nice gift. All the lessons put together in an ebook. Now I don’t have to worry about losing the lessons she sent me. And it’s a great sales tool for her. When I refer to the ebook, I’m reminded why I need her primary product, the main Web Design Mastery course that the mini-course was based on.

Work From Home, Profit Online, But Get Someone Else To Do The Work! Is that possible?

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

by Kristin Thormar

If you were running a brick and mortar business, you would try to give outstanding customer service. You would greet your customer with a smile and assist him or her in any way you could. A simple greeting and great customer service can generate massive sales for your business, because we are only human! We all like to be noticed and appreciated as persons.

Wal-Mart has someone at the entrance welcoming all their customers, giving them the feeling that they are highly valued customers. They do that because that if they provide excellent services to their customers, they will come back. Just as simple as that.

Now, let’s take a look at two scenarios here:

Finding Good Backlinks for Your WAHM Website

Friday, June 15th, 2007

Looking for the right backlinks for your website can be time-consuming, boring, and just plain hard work.

First you have to find sites that are relevant to yours, then find out if they link to other sites… then submit your link request.

I just found a nifty little tool that does all the hard work for you! Submit your favorite keywords, it does all the research and all you have to do is actually submit the link!

Oh, and did I mention that it’s free? ;)
