How to Start a WAHM Affiliate Program

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Are you thinking of starting an affiliate program for your WAHM business? Or are you wondering what to do next with the affiliate program you already have?

I just picked up the latest report from the Sweetie Saturday Report Club , and posted it in the WAHM-Articles Forum to share with you. (One of the membership perks the Report Club is being able to share these reports with others.) And this month it’s all about starting and running an affiliate program.

This report is written by Angela Wills of MarketersMojo.com . I recently had the opportunity to hear Angela talk about affiliate programs at another networking site I’m a member of and she really knows what she’s doing. If you want to sell more of your products and services, and still have time for the family and yourself, setting up a good affiliate program is an easy way to accomplish all of that.  And her tips can help you get it done faster than just playing around, trying to figure it out on your own.

In fact, I’ve already applied some of her advice to the WAHM-Articles affiliate program.

Here’s the link to where you can get your report. (Sorry, it’s only available to Platinum members.)

Speaking of which, if you haven’t registered as a Platinum member yet, it’s a good time to do that too. I’ve been adding lots of valuable benefits to the membership. And in one month, the price is more than tripling!

If you sign up before June 1, your membership fee is only $50 a year. With everything I want to add to this membership, I know the price is going to get a lot higher, so this is a good chance to get in on a really great deal.

You can contact me at contact at wahm-articles.com  if you want to know more about becoming a Platinum member.

How to Know If You’re the Expert

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

When you’re work-at-home-mom juggling naptimes and soccer schedules with running a business, it’s sometimes hard to think of yourself as the “expert” in any field. Most days, you’re just glad to get through without the house falling apart and making a sale or two.

In speaking with women who work from home, I’ve discovered that many of them don’t feel qualified to write articles to promote their businesses. They’ve been told that they need to present themselves as “the expert” in their articles… but they just don’t see themselves that way. So they give up on article marketing before they even really start.

I have a few ideas of why some women have problems identifying themselves as experts… Sometimes it’s because they know that, however much they know about their chosen field, there’s always someone who knows more. Sometimes it’s because they’ve gotten the idea that “nice girls” don’t brag about their accomplishments.

As for the information these women do know, they often wonder if anyone would care. Do any of those descriptions sound like you?

Here is my response to all those objections, and any others you might have…

Whatever it is you know about your chosen field, it can help someone else. And if it can help someone else, I believe it is your responsibility to share that information with people who need to hear it.

Writing articles and submitting them is one of the easiest ways I can think of to share what you know with others.

Maybe it would help if we used a word other than “expert”… or at least re-examined what an expert really is.

In the 4-Hour Workweek, author Tim Ferris describes being an expert as knowing a little more about your topic that the audience you’re trying to reach. You don’t have to know everything about your topic, just more than the person you’re explaining it to.

In the WAHM-Articles Forum, some of our members prefer to think of themselves as simply sharing information that can help someone else. I like that approach too.

You don’t need to be a guru in your chosen field. Whatever it is you know, that’s what you should write. You’ll be surprised to discover how much you have to offer.

Where is WAHM-Articles? Come Find Out!

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Last week WAHM-Articles author Rhonda White invited me to guest post on her blog, Mommy Revenue.

She asked me to share some article marketing tips with her readers. I think I gave her some good ones. Tip #2 is one I’m really harping on right now. I’m meeting so many women who are struggling with that, and I think a change in perspective could make all the difference for them.

Anyways,  I would really love it if you could pop over to her Moms Home Biz Blog and leave a comment. Thanks!

What Color is Your Favorite Word?

Monday, April 20th, 2009

You’ve felt the power of a single word.

  • hate
  • ugly
  • beautiful
  • adore

Or in two word: I’m sorry.

As a writer, I know that words are colors too. When I’m trying to create a perfect paragraph, brick red might do, but perhaps a darker shade of pink would suit even better.

One of my inspiring Twitter friends, @sundaycosmetics understands the power and the color of words. In fact, she’s even created a nailpolish line where each shade represents a word… or several.

Faith = clear
Prosperity= gold
Blessed = orange/red
Avoid Negative People = bronze brown

Can you imagine… instead of choosing a color to wear, choosing a word? For example, “I need to be sky blue (optimistic) today.” Or, “From now on I choose to have orange (self-respect).”

Even better, telling your tween/teen daughter how beautiful (black) she is to you and reminding her to carefully choose friends (burgundy).

In a way, the right color can express much more inspiration, hope and love than words alone.

I hope your week is filled with rainbows of iridescent pink. Remember you can discover gold when you follow your dark purple and use it to help others. (Pop over to Bev Davis’s nail polish collection for a translation.)

Be orange/red!

Join the WAHM-Articles Book Club

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

I think most of my life-changing revelations have come while I was reading a book.

Books have a way of reaching your soul like nothing else can. It’s just you and the author’s thoughts, as if she’s reaching right into your mind. And suddenly… you get it.

Books change lives.

As a mom, I know books change families too. When my kids were small, it was all about the parenting books. (Will I EVER be able to take this screaming child out in public?) Then the board books, as my son and daughter discovered new worlds on their own. Eventually they could read by themselves, and they had their own stories to tell me.

Now they’re both teenagers, and still our home and waking hours are filled with books – books that lead to discussions, questions, sharing of ideas.

Books can bless moms and their families. Which is why WAHM-Articles is hosting a WAHM Book Club in our forum, the WAHM Writers Club. I hope you’ll come join us.  Also, please share your thoughts as to which book we should read first.  Old favorites, new soon-to-be favorites… all are welcome.

It’s Here – Internet Marketing Help for Moms

Friday, April 10th, 2009

I had told myself I wasn’t going to check my e-mail this morning (it’s a day off with the fam) but I’m so glad I did. There was a cheery note from Kelly McCausey, letting me know that her new book is DONE.

This isn’t another e-book (although I love e-books and Kelly’s are always awesome). This is a print workbook you can order, write in and flip through.

I just browsed through her table of contents, and this woman has included EVERYTHING any mom would every want to know about choosing, starting, and running an internet business. If you’re still trying to figure out what kind of business you want to run, or what your next step should be, The Complete Internet Marketing Moms Start Up Guide might hold the answers for you.

Attitude of Gratitude Award!

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

lemonade-1 This week, I felt honored to accept the Attitude of Gratitude Award. Thank you very much to Jennica of Peekaboo Kids Gear for nominating me. I appreciate it!

I was asked to share how I’ve come to have an attitude of gratitude…

When I began my virtual business, I found some wonderful mentors who answered all my questions, and (very patiently) kept me on the right track to reach my goals. Without their willingness to share their time and expertise with me, I would probably have made many more mistakes.

Because of the help that was given to me, it’s important for me to help other moms who want to work at home whenever I can.

And in the spirit of helping moms connect with other moms, here is my list of 10 mom blogs that I think deserve the reward.

Women Have Pet Peeves Somedays, having someone to complain to about what really irked you off is the only thing that gets you through. This is where you can go to find women who understand how truly annoyed you are, and why.

Parent Zone Parenting articles, parenting tips, and child-friendly, healthy recipes. (Coming up with healthy recipes that kids will actually eat is worthy of an award all by itself.)

From Dominque’s Desk Written by an elementary school teacher and mother of two active boys, this blog focuses on full-time working parents, stay-at-home parents, and activities and products for kids ranging from infancy to elementary school.

Virtual Freedom 4 You The blog of a work-at-home-mom and my own virtual assistant.

Shak’in and Bak’in Great recipes, giveaways, and contests.

Demandez L’Ange A fun parenting blog written by virtual assistant and work-at-home-mom.

Healthy Perspectives Featuring an array of health topics, nutrition, recipes and fitness for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Homeschool Diva An inspirational blog for homeschool families. Homeschool ideas, resources, and a closeup look at the real life of a homeschooling family. Whenever I stop by there, I feel I’m at a quiet oasis in the midst of a hectic day.

Free Devotionals for Kids and Parents Too My mom’s devotional blog. But that’s not the only reason why you should visit it. If you’re interested in teaching your kids from a biblical perspective, she has some great information and resources.

Hall of Fame Moms Reviews of products of interest to moms, women, or families in general. Good stuff!

Army Crossroads Home business information and opportunities for military families.
